8th South Carolina
The 3rd New Hampshire also portrays the 8th South Carolina.
The 8th SC Co. H was organized and mustered into service in the Spring of 1861 in what is now Florence County. After serving in South Carolina, the unit went to Virginia, where it was engaged at First Manassas. In January 1862 the regiment was taken over by General Kershaw. They then went on to see action at Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, The Wilderness, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Cedar Creek before being ordered to North Carolina in 1865 at Averasboro and Bentonville before returning to Virginia. On April 26th, 1865, the regiment surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia, with the Army of Tennessee only fifty-two men.

Buried St. Paul's Methodist Church Cemetery.
